Meta Search Engines: These search engines allow you to search multiple search engines simultaneously.  

Google.com

 

Google is a metasearch engine owned by Google, Inc. Search hits are listed on a page by page rank or popularity hits and is a commerically paid site. In order to be higher ranked corporations may pay for their listing while those that are free are listed low priority unless they become popular by search hits over a long period of time.

Google searches web pages, images, maps, videos and blogs.He has advanced features such as language, file type, domain and date.

Focus of searches is commercial and filtering for credible academic information is left to the user to determine validity.

Dogpile

Dogpile is a metasearch site—it searches multiple engines, filters for duplicates and then presents the results to the user. Dogpile uses multiple popular search engines, as well as sponsored links. It's primary searches include hits from Google, Yahoo!, Bing, Ask.com and About.com. 

Dogpile started a campaign in 2008 to use proceeds from site traffic to raise US$1 million for animals in need

Bing is a metasearch engine (previously Live Search, Windows Live Search and MSN Live Search) which includes search suggestions are queries are entered. Features include left side navigation pane, related and prior searches, right side extended previews and sublinks.

    The Search results are displayed in the Venn Diagram. The results closer to the middle of the Venn Diagram are more relevant. The results that are displayed further away from the center are less relevant.
