An Announcement for GWISD Parents and Guardians

Story image 1_0

We truly appreciate your guidance and support for our students during our School at Home experience. We realize that our students have had to adjust to a different format of instruction and want you to know that our teachers are here for you.The attached Grading Guidelines for this COVID-19 period are designed to acknowledge and give credit for our students' academic efforts, keeping in mind the different format of instruction and implementing a slight change in grading format. We continue to expect quality and timely work from our students as we always have and we know that they will be successful. If your child no longer resides in GWISD, please request that they be withdrawn from GWISD so they may properly enroll in their new district.  Likewise, if you are new to GWISD, please contact the campus principal so we can start the process of enrolling your child(ren) into our district.  Unfortunately, we are not able to get in touch with some of our students which is forcing their teachers to give them a failing grade.  We are mailing certified letters to these parents with instructions on how to contact the school and get the work needed.  Students not completing work will be required to attend summer school in order to advance to the next grade level or receive credit for a course. Please keep in mind that if we return to a regular format of in school instruction and are able to return to school, we will revert back to our regular grading guidelines as approved by the Board of Trustees. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us through our Hotline at 361-446-2919 if you have any questions. You may also contact your child's teacher if needed. Once again, we thank you for your patience and support.
