March 18th Update on GWISD

Dear GWISD Parents/Guardians:

The George West Independent School District will remain closed for the week of March 23-27, 2020. Although, we still do not have any confirmed COVID-19 cases in our area, we continue to exercise caution and urge our families to do the same.

We would like to thank you for your patience and flexibility as we navigate through this challenge together and as we make decisions we have never had to ponder before. We would also like to thank sour teachers and staff. They have stepped up in an amazing way to provide seamless instruction and support to our students and families.

We will continue to provide meals and instruction for our students in the following ways until further notice:

1. Online instruction- Our teachers will continue to communicate with students through their email and any other communication available to you. Students are still expected to complete and return their assignments.
2. Instructional packets- As long as our current health situation allows, we will continue to provide paper instructional packets to those students who don't have internet access. Packets will be available for pickup  at designated and campuses and bus drop off areas. If this changes, we will notify you immediately.
3. Wi-Fi Hot Spots-  We are working on providing Wi-Fi hot spots on our school buses. When they become available, we will be parking buses near Bus Stop areas so that students will have internet available to complete and return online assignments. We will notify you of these locations.
4. Meals- We will continue to provide meals at 11:00 AM our Pick up location at the Main Cafeteria entrance and at Bus Drop Off areas

Once again, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work together as a community during unusual times.

Developing Hearts and Minds,
Dr. Jim Rosebrock, Superintendent of Schools.
