TAKS Information

TAKS INFORMATION

In 2003, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) changed to a new statewide assessment (the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills -- TAKS) for students in grades 3-11.  Students in grade 11 have to meet the passing standard in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies to graduate.  The assessment was aligned with the current Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) during that time.

The information below pertains to students in grade 10 and grade 11 during the 2011-2012 school year.  Because these students started high school under the TAKS graduation requirement, they will take TAKS each year until they have passed all 4 parts of the Exit Level exam.

Grade 10 Students:

  • Will take TAKS Grade 10 tests in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Must score 2100 to meet the passing standard.
  • Must score 2400 to make Commended Performance
  • May take only the STAAR EOC assessments for courses in which their campus has been assigned for field testing.

Grade 11 Students:

  • Will take TAKS Exit Level tests in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Must score 2100 to meet the passing standard.
  • Must score 2400 to make Commended Performance
  • May take only the STAAR EOC assessments for courses in which their campus has been assigned for field testing.
  • If students do not pass all four exams in April 2012, they have the opportunity to re-take the subject test(s) they did not pass in July 2012, October 2012, March 2013, and April 2013 before graduation in May 2013.
